TRAVEL

Flights
There are two main airports on Tenerife:

Tenerife Norte (Los Rodeos) deals with just about all the inter-island flights and most of those to the Spanish mainland.
Tenerife Sur (Reina Sofia) takes the remainder of the scheduled flights and virtually all the charter flights to the island.
For convenience you will want to fly to Tenerife Sur as it is no more than 15 minutes away from Los Cristianos.

For great deals on flights click here. A good tip is to book your flights early rather than leaving it to the last minute. Prices are usually lower as soon as they are issued and go up as the travel date nears.

Ferries
The vast majority of people fly to Tenerife. The only other alternative is to take the Trasmediterránea ferry from Cádiz, in the south of Spain, to Santa Cruz, in the north of Tenerife. For more information click here.

All of the islands are connected by ferries, jetfoils and 'fast ferries'. There are at present three companies that operate a service: Fred Olsen, Trasmediterránea and Naviera Armas. For more detailed information on routes, times and prices click here.

Car Hire
If you would like to get away from Los Cristianos, and see a little more of the island, it is well worth hiring a car for a few days. Remember to bring your driving license. You need to be over 21 and have held a license for over two years.

When you are on the road always remember to carry your: driving license, passport and rental agreement with papers.

Taxis
If you are looking to visit the next town, go to the golf course or just want a ride back from Los Cristianos a taxi is an inexpensive option. You can usually flag down a passing taxi or walk to a taxi rank which is never far away.
Some taxi drivers may be reluctant to set the meter. It is always good practice to confirm the fare before jumping in.

Buses
The local bus company 'Titsa' operates a fairly extensive service between all the towns. In some instances you can catch the fast service to a certain town or you may need to change bus en-route. Prices are inexpensive and if you think you may want to use the bus service on a regular basis during your holiday it may be worth you buying a 'Bonobus Card'.
